The FMCSA estimates that fleet transportation accidents cost over 2,000 lives and $20B in financial losses in 2017 alone.
To help mitigate these risks and improve safety on the roads, Samsara is committed to finding new ways to incentivize the use of intelligent dash cam technology—specifically because they are proven to help fleets decrease the severity and volume of safety-related incidents, while also helping them stay efficient. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve partnered with Nationwide to further help our customers keep safety top of mind.
As one of the largest insurance and financial service providers in the US, Nationwide offers coverage and services to organizations of all sizes, including: property, casualty, personal lines, and specialty insurance coverage. Starting this month, Nationwide will provide a subsidy to eligible insureds who install Samsara telematics solutions and meet safety-focused key performance indicators.
“As we continue to listen to our members, we know that our trucking clients seek innovative solutions to protect their drivers, their trucks, their reputations and ultimately, their livelihoods,” said Gary Flaherty, Vice President E&S Commercial Auto at Nationwide. “This new capability will bring needed protection and ease to these clients to defend against outside hazards and learn from operational insights that translates to their bottom lines.”
Additionally, Samsara has created a dedicated team to focus on overall customer success. Nationwide insureds will receive strategic product implementation consultation to support the investment for their fleet. “Our goal is for Nationwide E&S insureds to experience a seamless level of service from both Nationwide and Samsara that will bring exceptional value to their business,” said Iain Denham, Senior Director, Global Partner Sales at Samsara.
Samsara’s technology platform includes tools for driver safety, fleet management, and compliance that deliver results. In fact, 90% of our customers have been able to improve safety within their fleet, and more than half of dash cam customers have used Samsara to exonerate their drivers. These safety improvements and better visibility into risk have also helped 15% of Samsara Dash Cam customers reduce their insurance premiums.
“At Samsara, we know that intelligent dash cameras are one of the most effective technologies for improving fleet safety. With this technology now available for eligible Nationwide E&S insureds, we have the opportunity to protect even more drivers and give them the tools to prevent road accidents before they occur,” said Denham. “We’re incredibly excited about the immediate safety benefits of this program and look forward to the continued development of our partnership with Nationwide.”
