Samsara is deeply committed to the security of our platform — from our cloud and mobile applications to our hardware devices. We’re excited to announce, as part of our continued investment in data security, that we have pursued and received a SOC 2 Type 1 report.
What is a SOC 2 report?
The Service and Organization Controls (SOC 2) is an industry-recognized attestation report given to a company after an audit of the company’s internal security practices. Our report describes the controls and processes Samsara has in place to secure customer data and to ensure availability of our system.
What’s in the SOC 2 report?
The SOC 2 report includes a description of our software infrastructure and the processes we have in place to keep our customers’ data safe and available.
Some of the processes covered in our report are:
Employee on-boarding and termination processes
Internal access control to production environments
Disaster recovery, data backup, and incident response processes
System monitoring and ongoing risk assessments
Communicating changes to customers
These are just some of the many practices that Samsara’s SOC 2 report covers. As part of our ongoing commitment to data security and availability, Samsara is set to complete its SOC 2 Type 2 audit by the end of 2019 and will continue to perform yearly SOC 2 Type 2 audits thereafter. Samsara’s SOC 2 Type 1 report was provided by Schellman & Company, a licensed and independent certified public accountant (CPA) firm.
Why did Samsara pursue this report?
Our customers rely on Samsara to perform critical functions day-in and day-out.
