How do you get eyes over every safety incident, boost driver morale, or catch potential issues the moment they happen? That’s exactly what we discussed at our latest SUG at Samsara HQ in London on 11th July.

It was a fantastic opportunity for customers to catch up on the latest product updates, trade success stories, and learn from each others’ experiences over the past 3 months. Attendees were also treated to a behind the scenes look at new solutions like Asset Tags, Connected Workflows, AI Detections, and Advanced Custom Reports

We were joined by industry leaders like FM Conway, Grundon, and JJX Logistics as they shared some of the impressive results they’ve achieved with Samsara. If you missed the event or just want a roundup of the biggest customer highlights — we’ve got you covered.

Here’s the lowdown from the summer SUG:

1. FM Conway reports a huge drop in safety incidents

Dave Boorman, Fleet Telematics Manager, FM Conway, explained how they use Samsara’s dash cams and telematics to pinpoint the circumstances behind every incident — to improve coaching, reduce accidents, and cut costs. The result? Massive savings across the board.

“We saved in excess of £155,000 purely on third-party road traffic accidents,” Dave shared. “We’ve also reduced somewhere in the region of 18% in the amount of road traffic accidents over the past year,” he added. With a safety record like that, it’s no surprise that FM Conway was crowned Safest Operator in the 2024 Samsara Connected Operations Awards.

2. Grundon puts a positive spin on promoting safety

Chris Double, Regional Operations Manager at Grundon, discussed his unique approach to promoting safety by celebrating good driving behaviour — rather than focusing on incidents.

“When a driver does something exemplary, we make sure everyone knows about it. It boosts morale and motivates others to follow suit,“ said Chris. “As an industry, we don’t celebrate our successes enough —we always focus on accidents — and we wanted to flip that on its head.” This approach to safety worked like a charm; during their six-month trial, Grundon saw a 71% drop in safety events and a 4.32% improvement in fuel efficiency.

3. JJX Logistics keeps a cool head when managing temperature-sensitive goods

Edward Martin, Fleet Manager from JJX Logistics took to the mic as our ‘customer MC’ of the event, as he shared how his team maintains the integrity of goods like perishable food, pharmaceuticals, and other temperature-sensitive products.

With Samsara’s real-time data, JJX Logistics can continuously monitor the temperature and humidity levels inside their transport vehicles. This visibility allows them to catch potential issues in an instant, before they become problems. “To have that information and data coming through every 10-15 seconds is fantastic,” “It’s not just about maintaining the conditions but also about showing our clients that we are proactive and reliable.”
