People change jobs for lots of reasons. For some, it’s about making a conscious decision to advance their career by gaining new skills and taking on more responsibilities. For others, it’s about finding a new challenge or juggling the demands of their home life with the pressures at work.

Whatever the reasons, changing jobs and starting somewhere new is something personal to each and every one of us. But it’s also exciting. Uplifting. And hugely rewarding.

Here at Samsara, we’re constantly on the lookout for great talent to help support our growing business. Why? Because we are a company that is going places.

We’re transforming the world of physical operations — the backbone of our global economy — that represents more than 40% of global gross domestic product (GDP). Our technology is helping to modernise these organisations so they become safer, more efficient, and more sustainable.

That’s what motivates us as a business. And it’s apparent this drive to improve a sector that is so important to us all has also rubbed off on our employees.

Hat trick of accolades confirms Samsara’s top billing as a great place to work

Earlier this year we earned our 2023 thanks to 95% of UK employees agreeing that Samsara is an amazing place to work.

Shortly after, Samsara hit the headlines again with the UK Best Workplace for Women™ certification, which emphasises our ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive, fair, and empowering culture.

And most recently, we’ve been recognised as a 2023 UK Best Workplace in Tech™ by Great Place To Work. As an organisation, this is a significant milestone achievement in our pursuit of being  a top destination for tech talent. This award is a testament to the fact that we’re fostering an environment where Samsarians feel valued, inspired and empowered.

In fact, all three awards shine a spotlight on how we operate our business, build our culture, and shape the programmes and resources we offer our employees.

To gain a deeper understanding,  we asked some of our UK team why they decided to work for Samsara.

For Marc Clifford, a recently promoted engineering manager based at Samsara’s London office, it all happened quite by chance.

“I just stumbled across Samsara,” admits Marc. But once he saw the work being done, there was no turning back.

“I was blown away by the ability to connect the real world with the digital world. And it was really exciting to see how we were really building for the future — building something for the long term — and really taking into consideration what our customers were after.”

For Eliza AbiNader, who started with Samsara as a midmarket account executive in the US and now in the UK, the decision to join was based on three core reasons.

The first was the trajectory of the company. “It is scaling at such a pace,” recalls Eliza “I wanted to be part of it.“

“The second reason was Samsara’s cutting-edge, market-leading, and market-disrupting technology. And finally, the opportunity to learn and grow alongside intelligent and hardworking individuals” she said.

Fulfilling jobs go hand-in-hand with reward and recognition

For many people, having a fulfilling job — and the opportunity to grow and develop your career — is one of the most important parts of any job. And, as has already been pointed out, so too is working for a company that makes a real difference to what goes on in the world.

But it’s also important that people receive the right reward and recognition for their talent, hard work, and dedication.

“What made me join Samsara was the great benefits package that came along with it as well as a competitive salary,” said Selvachandran Thanushn, a business technology specialist who’s worked at Samsara since late 2019.

“There are a lot of perks involved with employees often treated to office lunches by our workplace team. Plus, we have great dental and health care packages, and other such benefits as well,” he said.

Samsara strives to provide an exceptional experience for every employee, with inclusive benefits designed to support people both personally and professionally. In the UK, these include competitive pay, an employee stock purchase programme, flexible paid time off, paid sabbaticals, family planning and fertility treatment benefits, mental health and professional development coaching, employee resource groups, mentorship programmes, and more.

And there are other ‘soft’ benefits that also make his time at Samara so fulfilling.

“I feel like I’m part of the Samsara family,” he said. “For me, a flexible work environment is very helpful since I live quite far from the office. It allows me to manage my time better at work and I’m able to come in when it's necessary.”

Of course, some people who join Samsara are just starting out in their careers. If that’s the case, there are plenty of opportunities to join —  either as an intern or a new graduate.

And starting your career at Samsara means you will drive impact by solving complex real-world problems for the organisations that power our economy.

Our success is down to the people who work with us, our product innovation, and the culture we have created. That’s what makes us special. That’s what sets us apart from other organisations.
