Introducing Samsara MCP: your data, inside of your team’s AI tooling

Our customers are automating their frontline and back-office operations, and AI is a powerful tool they use to do so. Work like managing maintenance workflows or assigning coaching based on current conditions used to live in spreadsheets, phone calls, and three open tabs. Now, those tasks are something an agent can do in the background.

In the past month, I've talked to dozens of customers who want even better connectivity to Samsara data inside their AI tools or in developer environments. At our Beyond conference, customers showed us fleet data flowing into finance and TMS systems through tooling they'd built in-house.

All of this aligns with a foundation that we've been laying all year: building Samsara into the orchestration layer for physical operations, so the intelligence that runs a fleet is available wherever the work actually happens. Today, we're announcing the next step: Samsara MCP is generally available.

What ships with Samsara's MCP

Samsara MCP is a hosted endpoint at mcp.samsara.com. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor, or any AI tool you use that supports the Model Context Protocol. Then sign in with your Samsara login, and your agents have permissioned read-only access to your data in two specific ways.

• The first is direct: your agents get access to a catalogue of Samsara tools that can query vehicles, drivers, safety events, hours of service, and more, returning structured results your agent can compose, paginate, and retry. Today's release includes more than 40 tools, with more coming iteratively through feedback from customers.

• The second is through the Samsara Assistant, which is accessible by agents through MCP. It has expanded access to help teams with more complex work and is backed by Samsara's purpose-built agents. Ask in plain language and the Assistant reasons on our side.

Security is also built into the core of our Samsara MCP. Every request carries the same permissions users have in Samsara. If you can't see something in Samsara, your AI client can't either. No shared API keys, no service accounts, every call attributable to a named user.

For our European customers, that same governance extends to where your data lives. Samsara MCP for EU and UK organizations runs on our EU infrastructure, so your fleet data is handled under the same data residency, GDPR Data Processing Addendum, and ISO 27001/27017/27018 and ISO 42001 certifications that already cover the rest of the Samsara platform. MCP doesn't change what leaves Samsara or where it's processed — it only changes which of your own approved AI tools can ask for it.

Pricing note: Samsara MCP is available to all customers today at no additional charge. In the future, your MCP costs will be based on your monthly usage.

One operational truth on the surface of your choice

Enterprises don't run on one surface. Their engineers build in Claude and OpenAI; their ops teams live in a TMS; their leaders read a Slack thread at 6 a.m.

Samsara is the system of record for physical operations — the hardware, the network, the data model, and the purpose-built agents that understand it. What we're doing is giving customers choice in how they reach it: through Samsara Assistant and Agent Studio, through our APIs, and now through MCP in whatever AI tool they've chosen. One operational truth, one permission model, many surfaces. For the ops leaders who have quietly been building their own connectors, this is the supported replacement for which you've been asking.

We're building towards a headless Samsara: APIs, MCP, and a context graph of your operation that makes the same tools and intelligence behind the dashboard available across every surface, however you build.
