The Challenge
Fragmented tools increased costs and delays
Since 1989, Accord Transportation Ltd. has earned a reputation for reliability and round-the-clock customer support. Headquartered in Surrey, British Columbia—with additional offices in Vancouver, Calgary, and Fullerton, California—the family-owned carrier proudly serves customers across North America with a steadfast commitment to exceptional service.
Yet as the industry evolved, so did customer expectations. Shippers wanted faster updates and real-time visibility, while continuing to demand competitive rates. To stay ahead, Accord needed technology that could make their operations safer, more efficient, and more transparent.
Their existing setup made that difficult. The company relied on Omnitracs for Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs), a separate camera system, and another platform for trailer tracking. Managing multiple systems created silos that slowed access to critical information and made daily operations more complex. "When we relied on SD cards, getting video was always frustrating," said Sandy Burt, Chief Operating Officer. "We'd often wait days or even weeks for footage, and in serious accidents, authorities might take the card and we'd never see it at all."
These blind spots carried real consequences. With fuel, drivers, and equipment already accounting for most operating costs, the team struggled to identify excessive idling, reduce liability risks, and coach drivers effectively. As customers began expecting real-time visibility into their loads, Accord's fragmented legacy systems could no longer keep up.
"With Samsara, the visibility we’re able to provide our customers is incredible. They can track our trucks in real time, follow live links, and see exactly where their load is at any moment. We now have the ability to share that information instantly."

The Solution
A unified platform for fleet-wide visibility
To overcome the challenges of disconnected systems and manual processes, Accord sought a single solution to unify their ELDs, cameras, and asset trackers on a single platform. After evaluating several providers, the company selected Samsara for its advanced technology and ability to integrate multiple systems into one connected, cloud-based platform.
By consolidating their technology, Accord now has a unified, real-time view of their fleet and assets. The platform has improved data access, streamlined coordination between teams, and gives customers greater visibility into their shipments. This deeper level of insight now enables Accord to respond faster, operate more efficiently, and continue delivering the reliable service their customers expect.
“I wouldn’t want to operate without Samsara at this point. It’s like flying first class and then going back to coach—once you know what you’re missing, it’s hard to go back.”

Cameras & Video
Saving hundreds of thousands in litigation costs with instant video access
With Samsara Dual-Facing AI Dash Cams, Accord has saved hundreds of thousands of dollars by resolving liability cases faster and avoiding costly litigation. The system delivers crash notifications and video footage within minutes, allowing the safety team to review incidents and respond immediately. "AI Dash Cam footage has proven time and again to be invaluable from a legal standpoint," said Sandy Burt, COO. "It helps us quickly determine who's at fault when incidents happen, and providing that information to our insurance providers right away clears up a lot of gray areas."

Fleet Telematics
Reducing fuel waste from idling by nearly $20K per month
By leveraging Samsara's telematics data and idling reports, Accord has cut monthly fuel costs by nearly $20,000—even during harsh winters and hot summers, when idling for heating or cooling is often unavoidable. The company uses these telematics insights to monitor fuel use, promote efficient driving habits, and encourage accountability across the fleet, including owner-operators whose fuel is covered by Accord.
