Meet Bayview Construction
475+ PIECES OF EQUIPMENT
400+ EMPLOYEES
200+ VEHICLES
Fragmented systems created costly blind spots
For over 30 years, Bayview Construction has been a leader in heavy construction across Manitoba, maintaining the roads, sewer systems, and water networks that their communities rely on every day. As the company nearly doubled its workforce over the past ten years, its growing fleet became harder to manage.
Manitoba’s unpredictable weather added to the challenge, shifting from sunshine to snow within hours and forcing concrete pours or asphalt work to be delayed with little notice. To keep pace, Bayview relied on fragmented technology: lagging GPS systems and consumer dash cams that required micro SD cards. Dispatchers were left without clear visibility into equipment availability, while theft and misplacement drove up costs. Paper-based DVIRs added further strain, with incomplete inspections leaving defects unresolved and creating tension between field crews and the shop. Without a reliable system of record, Bayview was left vulnerable to false claims, costly delays, and unnecessary expenses.
One platform for fleet-wide visibility
Bayview partnered with Samsara to unify operations across 475+ assets, including semis, tandems, light-duty trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment such as excavators and loaders. With Vehicle Gateways, Asset Gateways, Asset Tags, and AI Dash Cams—plus data integrations through Samsara’s open API—the company replaced fragmented technology with a single source of truth, gaining real-time visibility across its fleet.
