The Challenge

Vermani Trucking is a specialized flatbed carrier based in Ontario, hauling heavy metals and machinery across Canada and the United States. Transporting steel, aluminum, and automotive components—often at gross weights of up to 90,000 pounds—requires precise execution, strong safety controls, and constant visibility.

Before Samsara, the company relied on a system that split compliance and video across two separate portals. As a result, reviewing camera footage required staff to fully exit the Hours of Service (HOS) system, complicating workflows and slowing routine reviews at a time when reliable visibility was critical to protecting vehicles and high-value freight. Hardware reliability complicated matters further. “The biggest issue we had with Omnitracs was camera connectivity,” said Nitin Vermani, Operations Manager. “Even when the camera looked connected, we couldn’t always retrieve footage when we needed it. That defeated the whole purpose.”

Together, these system and hardware limitations left gaps in real-time visibility and asset awareness. Instead of switching between systems, teams now access safety footage, compliance data, and asset locations from one centralized dashboard. Automated alerts now deliver critical video footage instantly, helping safety managers respond faster and with greater confidence.
