The Challenge

Fragmented systems slowed decisions and limited visibility

Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Surrey, British Columbia, Sunrise Farms manages an end-to-end poultry supply chain—from hatching eggs to processing and delivering finished products for major international brands. Following decades of growth through acquisitions, the company now operates nine processing facilities and three hatcheries across British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, and Ontario, supported by a diverse fleet of more than 400 pieces of equipment.

As the business expanded, so did the complexity of their fleet. Sunrise Farms relied on multiple telematics providers, each generating data in different formats and creating significant silos. Without a single source of truth, Sunrise Farms lacked consistent visibility across regions, making it difficult to standardize processes and accurately compare performance nationwide.

This fragmentation slowed decision-making. Inconsistent reporting made it harder to identify trends and enforce standardized safety practices, while regional teams spent hundreds of hours reconciling data instead of using it to take action. At the same time, limited real-time visibility into driver behaviour, trailer conditions, and road conditions—especially in remote areas—reduced the team's ability to proactively manage safety and protect both drivers and sensitive live cargo.

The Solution

A unified platform to standardize data and improve visibility

By bringing fleet, safety, and equipment data into a single platform, Sunrise Farms gained consistent visibility across all regions, enabling faster, more proactive decision-making. To support this transformation, Sunrise Farms standardized on Samsara's Connected Operations Platform, deploying Vehicle Gateways, Dual-Facing AI Dash Cams, Camera Connectors, Powered Asset Gateways, Environmental Monitors, and AI Multicams across their fleet.

"The clear, user-friendly interface is one of the main reasons I chose Samsara," said Paul Mun, Director of Fleet and Livehaul, who led the rollout across the organization. "If a platform isn't easy to use, teams won't adopt it beyond basic GPS tracking."

Responsive customer support was equally important. With a lean team managing fleet operations, timely support helped ensure issues could be resolved quickly without slowing down day-to-day operations. "With Samsara, I get a reply back within a couple hours—or within 24 hours at most," said Mun. "It builds confidence that this is a company that truly cares about its customers."
