The 2025 Comparison of Fleet Management Technology Providers is a third-party market research study that compares leading fleet management technology providers. It was conducted by market research firm Endeavor Business Intelligence in partnership with FleetOwner and Fleet Maintenance. The survey, commissioned by Samsara, gathered insights from more than 500 U.S. fleet professionals, examining the top challenges they face today, what they value most in technology, and how different fleet management technology providers compare.

Market research firm Endeavor Business Intelligence partnered with FleetOwner and Fleet Maintenance to survey more than 500 U.S. fleet professionals, examining the top challenges they face today, what they value most in technology, and how different fleet management technology providers compare. Key findings of the 2025 Comparison of Fleet Management Technology Providers report include:

• Fuel costs and driver shortages are top challenges: The top three challenges fleet managers say they are currently facing are fuel costs (32%), driver shortages (30%), and recruiting and training employees (29%). Smaller fleets are more likely to feel the pressure when it comes to fuel costs (40%) and insurance cost/availability (37%) compared to larger fleets, whereas larger fleets are more likely to struggle with technician shortages (26%) and driver retention (25%) than smaller fleets.

• When evaluating technology providers, fleet managers overwhelmingly prioritize support and customer service: 85% of fleet management professionals rated support and service as “extremely or very important,” making it the single most crucial factor in their purchasing decisions. Additional highly valued features included asset tracking (79%), a high-quality driver app (79%), and insurance premium reduction (75%).

• Samsara leads in customer support and service: 85% of fleet management professionals rated customer support and service as “extremely or very important,” making it the single most crucial factor in their purchasing decisions. When asked about their satisfaction with technology providers in this area, fleet management professionals rated Samsara highest. 83% of those with direct experience said they were satisfied or very satisfied with Samsara’s support and customer service. 

• Samsara earns the highest overall satisfaction: More than four out of five fleet professionals who currently use or have used Samsara (84%) are satisfied or very satisfied, compared to lower scores for Geotab (76%), Motive (70%), and Lytx (68%).

• Customers strongly recommend Samsara: 90% of current users said they are likely to recommend Samsara to a colleague.

• Samsara is the most recognized fleet management technology brand: Samsara ranked No. 1 in both top-of-mind brand awareness and overall brand awareness, making it the most widely recognized brand in the study.

According to the 2025 Comparison of Fleet Management Technology Providers report, Samsara earns the highest overall satisfaction score among fleet management providers. The study shows that 84% of Samsara users are satisfied or very satisfied, compared to 76% for Geotab, 70% for Motive, and 68% for Lytx.
