The Challenge

Scaling safety in a complex urban mobility network

As Uber’s general contractor in Germany, SafeDriver ennoo operates one of the most dynamic fleet structures in the mobility sector. Its own drivers, multiple locations, and a network of subcontractors work together seamlessly every day. The vehicles operate almost exclusively in heavy urban traffic, with high utilization rates and constant passenger contact. Under these conditions, safety must be effective and enjoy absolute priority.

Before implementing Samsara, the biggest issue was a lack of transparency in day-to-day operations. Investigating accidents was time-consuming because video footage had to be manually downloaded from the vehicles. As a result, decisions were often based on statements from individual parties involved. At the same time, it was difficult to systematically evaluate driving behaviour, which meant that risks often only became apparent at a late stage.

The goal was therefore clear. SafeDriver ennoo wanted to establish a safety program that doesn’t just react to incidents, but takes proactive measures and can be applied across the entire fleet, including subcontractors.

The Solution

A platform as the digital backbone of the security strategy

With Samsara, SafeDriver ennoo introduced a cloud-based platform that combines telematics, AI-powered dashcams, and safety analytics. The implementation went smoothly from the start. The devices were shipped to the locations, installed on-site, and integrated directly into ongoing operations.

The technology’s enormous impact on workflows became apparent very quickly. Just 48 hours after the first deployment, an accident could be fully reconstructed. Decisions that used to take a long time can now be made much more quickly. Step by step, what started as a tool purely for accident investigation has become a central control element for safety, processes, and operational decisions.

AI Dashcams

Resolve accidents faster and significantly improve insurance processes

With Samsara, the team can track incidents in real time. Video footage is immediately available in the cloud, eliminating the need for manual intermediate steps. This speeds up response times while enabling more informed decisions.

As a result, accident investigations have been accelerated by approximately 60%. Cases that used to take several months can now often be resolved within two to three months.

Collaboration with insurance companies has also improved significantly. Incidents can be clearly documented, follow-up inquiries are reduced, and processes run in a more structured manner. In a market where premiums are rising overall, this is a decisive advantage. SafeDriver ennoo was able to reduce its insurance premiums per vehicle by around 10%, while other companies are seeing increases in insurance premiums.

Building Trust and Making Safety Tangible in Everyday Life

Given that in-vehicle cameras are a sensitive subject in the German market, SafeDriver ennoo has prioritised transparency from the very beginning. Drivers are trained, passengers are informed, and the use of the cameras is clearly communicated as a safety measure.

In everyday life, it quickly becomes clear what a difference this makes. Video footage helps contextualise allegations, resolve conflicts, and document damage in a transparent manner. For example, one driver was able to prove that he had not run a red light and was cleared of any wrongdoing.

These experiences also shifted perceptions within the team. After about six months, acceptance was complete. New drivers are introduced to the system during onboarding and quickly understand the benefits it offers them personally.

Safety Scores and Coaching

Targeted Improvement of Driving behaviour and Sustainable Risk Reduction

With the Samsara Safety Score, SafeDriver ennoo has established a clear framework for evaluating everyday driving behaviour. Site managers regularly analyze safety-related incidents and address drivers directly when issues arise.

The results demonstrate the significant impact of this approach. Between May 2025 and January 2026, the number of instances of risky driving behaviour decreased by 40%. At the same time, speeding violations dropped by 60%. The risk of collisions was completely eliminated during the period under review.

Significant improvements can also be observed within the subcontractor network. Risky driving behaviour decreased by 67%, speeding violations by 83%, and the risk of collisions by 88%.

Vehicle Telematics

Act faster and streamline processes

Samsara gives SafeDriver ennoo a clear overview of the entire fleet at all times. Data is available immediately, allowing decisions to be made without delay.

This is particularly evident in critical situations. If a driver is suspended following a complaint via the Uber platform, the incident can be investigated immediately. In one case, a driver was reinstated within just one hour. Previously, such a resolution could take several days.

The Road Ahead with Samsara

Engaging Drivers More Closely and Further Improving Safety

SafeDriver ennoo plans to make even more extensive use of the driver app in the future. The goal is to engage drivers more closely and help them better track their own progress. The aim is to highlight positive driving behaviour and continue to encourage it over the long term.

At the same time, the system also strengthens communication within the team. Drivers compare their scores, discuss their experiences, and develop a shared understanding of safety in their daily work.

“For us, Samsara isn’t just a short-term project—it’s the digital backbone of our safety strategy. The platform has become deeply integrated into our processes, and today it’s impossible to imagine our daily work without it.”
