Road safety isn’t a new challenge, but it’s more urgent than ever. Fleets face rising costs, driver shortages, and unpredictable risks on the road. At Samsara, we’ve helped customers like Cappagh Browne realise massive safety improvements, by cutting dangerous driving behaviours by 95% or at Lanes Group where they saved on average £3,000 per insurance claim.

With over 250,000 accidents a year prevented with help from Samsara, we are uniquely positioned to improve road safety. Due to a combination of factors, we are at an inflection point: our increasingly sophisticated AI and the unmatched scale of our data, which includes 20 trillion data points from 90 billion annual miles traveled by our customers. Most importantly, we have the deep trust of our customers, as confirmed by a recent study that named Samsara the most trusted brand in fleet management technology.

Our AI doesn’t just flag isolated risky behaviors—it provides a more complete, proactive view of fleet risk with 30+ detections, from speeding and drowsy driving to blind spots, and patterns of risk across drivers and trips. And with leading innovations like Automated Coaching & Training, Performance Overview, and Worker Safety, we give safety teams the tools to act: reducing risk, recognizing top performers, and coaching drivers consistently—all without adding headcount or overburdening existing teams.

Risk reduction at scale, without extra resources

Historically, you’d need a large team and budget to run a safety program. Safety coaches spend hours sifting through data and video, deciding who to coach and how, and following up. This process isn’t scalable for most fleets, and keeps world-class safety out of reach. We are using Samsara AI to give your teams leverage, so you can run a world-class safety program—no matter your team size. Think of it as an AI coaching partner.

Here’s how this comes to life: AI analyzes your safety events and assesses risk based on dozens of factors, like driver history, trip context, road conditions, and event severity and frequency. It then automatically triages events: low-priority risks are coached via in-cab nudges, mid-priority events are automatically sent to drivers for self-review, and high-priority risks are escalated to managers. Customers can access pre-built automations or configure custom automations based on their organisational priorities. For example, a seat belt violation may go straight to the driver, while repeat close-following behavior is flagged for a manager’s attention. This means your managers solely spend their time on the few drivers that need one-on-one support. Everyone else gets consistent feedback, every day, making safety a habit.

This means real results for our customers. Grundon Waste Management, one of the UK's largest private waste companies, reduced speeding by 86% and mobile phone usage by 95%.

Take action on top risks and reward top performers

The Performance Overview Dashboard goes beyond reports and safety scores—it’s your AI-powered command center for risk and recognition. Rather than sifting through scattered data, supervisors get a clear, prioritised to-do list of where to focus.

  • Drivers to review are identified based on a holistic view of risk, including coaching adherence, driving history, and the severity and frequency of risky events. This helps supervisors focus on the highest-priority risks.

  • Drivers to recognise are surfaced for safe speed, defensive driving, streaks of compliant trips, or significant score improvements. Recognition isn’t just a nice-to-have—it improves engagement, retention, and long-term safety culture.

From this single pane of glass, managers can take action in real time—assign training, log coaching sessions, or send recognition messages directly from the dashboard. By making risk and recognition equally visible, Samsara helps teams not only reduce incidents but also celebrate and retain their best drivers.

"We didn't know what we didn't know…We were looking for a system that could give us the data we need, but more importantly, in a format that we can understand."

Chris Double, Regional Operations Manager at Grundon

Deliver world-class coaching with AI support

Samsara is committed to helping your managers deliver excellent coaching that sticks, every time. We’ve built AI tools that help managers deliver world-class coaching sessions, every time.

First, our AI analyzes safety videos, driver history, trip history, and coaching data, and summarises key insights for managers.  This means managers get a clear picture of what happened and why on every trip, and this makes it easy to prepare for one-on-one coaching sessions.

We also recognise that coaching doesn’t always happen one-on-one. Many fleets lead weekly or monthly group meetings that include coaching and recognition.  With our new Group Coaching feature, Samsara gives managers the ability to run best-in-class safety sessions in just a few clicks.

AI automatically generates presentations that highlight risky behaviors, team-wide trends, and top-performing drivers—so supervisors can walk into a standup or safety meeting fully prepared. Instead of spending hours assembling data, they can instead focus on delivering impactful feedback and recognition.

This makes it easy for every manager, regardless of experience, to lead high-quality coaching sessions every time.

“The safety score is now a hugely important KPI as it demonstrates the work we've done, encourages drivers to compete amongst each other—and by proving that score—we can get a discount on insurance premiums too, it’s a win-win.”

Shaun Carter, Regional Manager, AO/Expert Logistics Ltd

Extend protection outside of the cab with Worker Safety

Safety doesn't stop when a driver leaves the cab. With our new Worker Safety features, protection extends to your frontline teams outside of the cab, providing a level of comprehensive coverage you can't get anywhere else.

The SOS button within the Samsara Driver App allows drivers to send an immediate alert in case of an incident, alerting admins to the incident with rich, contextual information —including live camera footage—so you can make fast, informed decisions.

From the dashboard, managers can contact emergency services with just a few clicks, automatically dispatching them to the scene with all the information they need. And, because Worker Safety is built on the Samsara platform, managers can see which vehicles in their fleet are closest to the incident—allowing them to send nearby coworkers to assist immediately, often before first responders arrive.

These tools also let you proactively check on drivers if you have a concern about them, for example, if they are working in a high-crime area or taking longer than expected. You can manually request a check-in via the Driver App, or configure alerts to automatically trigger a request. If a driver fails to respond, an SOS alert is automatically sent to your dashboard. Samsara is the only fleet management provider that offers solutions to protect workers outside of the cab.

We'll also soon bring these safety features into a new standalone device: the Samsara Wearable, which will be available in Europe soon. This wearable features a long battery life, easily clips to personal protective equipment, and enables workers to trigger an SOS with a single click. It automatically detects slips, trips, and falls and provides managers with context-rich insights, including an audio recording of the incident, to facilitate quick assistance.

Ultimately, these tools help you support your team and respond to incidents faster, ensuring your people are protected outside of the cab.
