“Samsara is the hub that we use to keep track of everything to do with our fleet. We use the GPS part of it 10+ times a day, checking on our technicians and knowing what’s going on.”

Britt Peacock, Fleet Manager, Cardinal Plumbing, Heating & Air Inc.

Cardinal Plumbing, Heating & Air Inc., launched in 2013 to serve the plumbing needs of the Northern Virginia community, chose Samsara as a partner for their fleet as they grew the business.

Highlights:

  • Samsara’s all-in-one platform showcases real-time data from 14 vehicle gateways and dash cams to provide immediate insights into vehicle location, driver behavior, and maintenance needs.

  • Dual-facing dash cams help promote safe driving and prevent distracted behavior, shielding both drivers and the company from liability in the case of an accident.

  • Maintenance scheduling through the Samsara Dashboard helps automate vehicle upkeep, helping to reduce downtime and streamline operations.

  • Simple sensor installation makes it easy to adapt to changes in the fleet, and add new vehicles to support the company’s rapid growth.

To support their technicians, Cardinal Plumbing invested in Samsara vehicle gateways and dash cams to gain visibility into their fleet operations, streamline maintenance, and protect brand reputation while on the road. Since then, the company has grown quickly, expanding its fleet from 10 to 14 vehicles, and adding heating and cooling services to its offerings.

Due to the nature of the business, Cardinal Plumbing manages several types of inquiries: requests for services scheduled out weeks in advance, jobs with 1-2 day notice, and emergency requests. Samsara’s routing and dispatch tools help the company efficiently schedule advance appointments, while live GPS tracking makes it possible to dynamically dispatch technicians for emergencies.

“Samsara is the hub that we use to keep track of everything to do with our fleet,” said Britt Peacock, one of Cardinal Plumbing’s fleet managers. “The system pulls in a lot of vehicle information we used to input by hand, so that’s very convenient for us. We use the GPS part of it 10+ times a day, checking on our technicians and knowing what’s going on.”
