Customers choose Samsara for its simple experience, guaranteed uptime (99.99% SLA), and extensive integration capabilities. These qualities are a direct result of our fundamental design choice: the open architecture.

Physical operations are too vast and mission-critical for any single technology vendor to address alone. For instance, deep expertise in agriculture may come from a specialised vendor, while regional constraints often require local developers with on-the-ground experience.

Fundamentally, that's why Samsara avoids the closed box model. The unified platform is easy for end users to use and manage, while remaining open and accessible to developers and other partners. This approach provides industry-leading integration and extensibility while future-proofing technology investments. Recent features like the Samsara SDKs are prime examples of this approach. Below, we'll share how Samsara’s open platform approach differentiates itself.

Samsara ecosystem: An integrated platform for operational intelligence

Multiple, specialised systems across maintenance, compliance, and other fleet-specific operations add another layer of complexity to physical operations beyond specific industries or geographies. Samsara resolves this by delivering an open, integrated ecosystem built for reliable, scalable operations.

  • Expansive ecosystem and choice: We empower you to leverage an actively expanding ecosystem of over 350 integrations, spanning core operational functions with industry-leading breadth. Connect the tools you already rely on to achieve a unified view without sacrificing choice.

  • Increased team efficiency and consolidation: By digitising the physical world, our platform brings together capabilities that span an average of four or more different applications. This reduces the friction of toggling between tools, lowering software overhead, and improving operational visibility.

  • Enterprise-grade security and reliability: We deliver high reliability backed by a 99.99% Hosted Software Uptime SLA. Data confidentiality and integrity are ensured through SOC 2 compliance and a secure, scalable architecture designed to protect your mission-critical operations. Samsara is also committed to data privacy, with processes and controls that help customers meet regional regulatory requirements, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

In practice, Samsara’s customers see real benefits from this approach. Lanes Group, the UK’s largest wastewater utility solutions provider, deployed Samsara’s AI Dash Cams, Vehicle Gateways, and Connected Workflows to consolidate four systems into one, digitise 111 workflows processing 65,000+ monthly submissions, and saved over £300K annually through insurance and workflow automation.  And Fraikin UK, which equips more than 5,000 vehicles with telematics and AI dash cams and supports 200+ customers with connected fleet data, integrated Samsara’s open APIs to deliver real‑time mileage, idling, and vehicle health insights that help optimise maintenance workflows and proactively reduce downtime.

Interoperability and developer freedom

Robust developer tools illustrate Samsara’s commitment to extensibility. We give architects and developers the ability to:

  • Leverage industry-standard tools: Developers have the tools for efficient solution development, including REST APIs, SDKs, webhooks, and Tableau. Built for enterprise scale, Samsara's platform processes tens of billions of API calls per month.

  • Turn data into predictable results: Samsara processes and provides insights from over 20 trillion data points annually across telematics, safety, and maintenance. This data underpins Samsara AI and allows for contextual analysis across systems. For example, customers can send bespoke, AI-driven safety updates to drivers based on weather intelligence and real-time dashcam footage, a capability that’s only possible through Samsara’s connected operations platform. Vp Brandon Hire Station, operating over 500 vehicles across 125+ locations, used Samsara’s AI dash cams, telematics, and in‑cab alerts to detect risky driving and trigger real-time coaching. This reduced accident costs by 40% (£192K annually), cut mobile phone use by 93%, decreased speeding by 88%, and raised average driver safety scores by 10 points within eight months.

  • Design interoperable workflows: Many organisations struggle to get critical data to the right systems at the right time. Samsara provides developer flexibility to automatically route key data to wherever it’s needed using tools like webhooks to trigger instant, event-driven responses. Trans Proxim Froid, a French refrigerated transport operator, uses Samsara’s real‑time monitoring and alerting to automatically notify dispatchers and customers of route deviations, delivery timing changes, and cold chain temperature variances — enabling immediate corrective action and improving service reliability across more than 115,000 deliveries and 1.2 M+ kilometres annually.

Our commitment to partner success and customer choice

At Samsara, openness is fundamental to how we build. Our App Marketplace and developer portal are guided by principles that assure both customers and partners that our ecosystem thrives on collaboration, transparency, and choice.

  • An ecosystem built for customer choice: Samsara’s approach gives customers the freedom to choose the best solution for their needs. Our marketplace intentionally embraces a mixture of partner solutions—including those that are complementary, hybrid, and even competitive with our own products.

  • Innovation through collaboration: Our partners drive innovation alongside us. As our platform evolves, we share developer guidance, tools, and best practices to help partners effectively build, integrate, and differentiate their solutions for our shared customers.

  • Open access for all partners: Our approach is transparent. We will never block or remove an application from our marketplace just because it competes with a native Samsara solution. Furthermore, our commitment to providing robust APIs covers all useful data. We do not restrict access to data or decline a valuable API that should be exposed in our data model just to create a competitive advantage for our native apps.

“Our customers have incredible ideas for how to use their operations data to make a big impact, and we built our open platform and ecosystem so they can go beyond traditional use cases. It’s exciting to unlock this potential to streamline processes and create a better experience for both the frontlines and the back office. We’ve seen everything from salt spreader integrations for local municipalities to routing for school bus fleets to helping food and beverage companies maintain the crispness of their lettuce. As we continue to invest in our open architecture, we’re committed to helping our customers and partners innovate without limits.”

— Sanjit Biswas, Co-Founder & CEO, Samsara

A unified platform doesn’t require a closed ecosystem. Samsara shows that openness and a unified system can work together, giving customers reliable operations, broad integration options, and measurable operational outcomes. At the same time, we take a transparent approach to partner integrations and maintain customer choice. Together, this guides how we build and operate the platform to support connected operational systems.
