Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud, which is a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve their operations. At Samsara, we are helping improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy. Representing more than 40% of global GDP, these industries are the infrastructure of our planet, including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing — and we are excited to help digitally transform their operations at scale.
Working at Samsara means you’ll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team that’s shaping an exciting array of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, and Equipment Monitoring. As part of a recently public company, you’ll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.
About the role:
Samsara is looking for a Head of GTM AI and Engineering to lead the technical evolution of our Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy. This leader will build, automate, and operate the systems that power Samsara’s entire go-to-market engine, and you’ll do it AI-first. You will lead a high-impact, cross-functional team of AI Engineers, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Product Managers dedicated to building advanced AI products, models, and automated workflows.
These internal products deliver deep insights, precise recommendations, and seamless automation to supercharge our ~1,500-person GTM organization and directly enhance the experience of several thousand global customers. This is a senior leadership role built for an AI-first world—moving beyond traditional reporting into the engineering of intelligent systems that scale a hyper-growth business.
This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.
You should apply if:
- You want to impact the industries that run our world: The software, firmware, and hardware you build will result in real-world impact – helping to keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, and most importantly, ensure workers return home safely.
- You want to build for scale: With over 2.3 million IoT devices deployed to our global customers, you will work on a range of new and mature technologies driving scalable innovation for customers across industries driving the world's physical operations.
- You are a life-long learner: We have ambitious goals. Every Samsarian has a growth mindset as we work with a wide range of technologies, challenges, and customers that push us to learn on the go.
- You believe customers are more than a number: Samsara engineers enjoy a rare closeness to the end user and you will have the opportunity to participate in customer interviews, collaborate with customer success and product managers, and use metrics to ensure our work is translating into better customer outcomes.
- You are a team player: Working on our Samsara Engineering teams requires a mix of independent effort and collaboration. Motivated by our mission, we’re all racing toward our connected operations vision, and we intend to win – together.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and Scale a Multi-Disciplinary Team: Hire, develop, and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing team of AI Engineers, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Product Managers.
- Shape Functional AI & Strategy: Define the 3-year vision and technical roadmap for AI deployment across GTM systems, striking the optimal balance between automated AI agents and essential human judgment.
- Architect Intelligent Systems: Direct the creation of production-grade AI models, consumption forecasting engines, and automated data pipelines that eliminate manual operational bottlenecks across CRM and product telemetry layers.
- Maintain an Uncompromising Quality Bar: Set execution standards for AI-generated analysis and model outputs, building rigorous review frameworks so business executives can implicitly trust the system's data.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner at the executive level with Engineering, Product, and RevOps leaders to implement highly scalable data models, metric standards, and self-serve tooling across the enterprise.
- Foster Samsara's Culture: Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Leadership Experience: 12+ years of experience in software engineering, data science, or revenue technology, with a minimum of 5+ years successfully managing other people managers (such as Engineering Managers or Directors) within a complex, high-growth technical ecosystem.
- Technical Depth: Proven hands-on background in modern AI architectures, Large Language Model (LLM) orchestration, complex data modeling, and production-level SQL/BigQuery paradigms to effectively set technical direction and audit team outputs.
- Strategic & Operational Hybrid: Demonstrated experience designing and deploying AI-powered workflows or scalable data pipelines at a company of meaningful scale.
- Cross-Functional Communication: Exceptional ability to translate deeply complex technical and data architecture into plain, actionable business context for non-technical executive stakeholders.
- Location: Must reside in the United States.
An ideal candidate also has:
- Experience working with usage-based or consumption revenue models linked directly to product telemetry and data pipes.
- Prior engineering oversight at a high-growth Product-Led Growth (PLG) SaaS enterprise.
- Deep familiarity with core GTM systems and tools (e.g., Salesforce architecture, Snowflake/BigQuery data lakes, and enterprise BI platforms like Looker or Tableau).
