Every day, millions of people across Europe rely on buses, coaches, minibuses, and private hire vehicles to get to work, school, medical appointments, or across town. Made up of both public and private operators, they form a transport network that connects communities and keeps daily lives moving. But running these services efficiently, safely, and sustainably is no easy task. That’s why operators are turning to Samsara’s Connected Operations Platform.
Our AI-enabled platform gives passenger transit operators the visibility and control they need to run smarter, safer, and greener services. With real-time GPS tracking, integrated dash cams, and cloud-based reporting, Samsara’s platform helps fleets move faster, drive smarter, and waste less. Whether it’s delivering accurate ETAs, streamlining maintenance, or supporting safer driving, Samsara helps passenger transit fleets stay one step ahead, both on the road and in the office.
Otto Car is London’s largest provider of private hire cars, supporting more than 8,000 rideshare drivers with everything from licensing to driver coaching. As an official partner of Uber, Free Now, and Bolt, safety is paramount. Implementing Samsara’s AI-powered, dual-facing dash cams and tracking technology, Otto Car is now able to identify and take action to minimise dangerous driving.
“We’ve always said we are an education company that rents cars. Our goal is to get to zero accidents and the only way to do that is by understanding our drivers’ behaviour and educating them on how to work as safely as possible. Using Samsara, we are putting safety at the heart of our service and enabling the success of our Uber partners and PCO drivers.” Gurinder Dhillon, CEO & Founder, Otto Car
Ruban Bleu is a specialist coach provider in France that has made eco-friendly travel a priority. They’re already using Samsara’s platform to improve fuel efficiency across their fleet. Now, thanks to the involvement of drivers and Samsara's idling reports, the group has been able to reduce fuel losses linked to idling time by 27%. And they’re also using Samsara’s platform to deliver a 100% clean fleet by 2026.
“The combination of the various initiatives and Samsara technology has enabled RubanBleu to reduce its fuel consumption by an average of 14%. This has resulted in annual savings of €49,000 and a 7% reduction in CO2 emissions per kilometre.” Guillaume Bruneau, Director Pôle Interurbain, Groupe RubanBleu
Based in Bavaria, Scharf Busreisen is a coach business operating mainly in Germany but also in Austria, France, Italy, Switzerland, and even Malta. Like many operators, they invested in Samsara to help drive safety and efficiency across their fleet. One area where they have seen significant improvement is in the processing of claims following an accident. Previously, it could take hours for an incident to be processed and resolved, but now relevant information is available within a few minutes, saving between €15,000 and €20,000 in the case of a major incident.
"With the Connected Operations Cloud, everything is so easy and intuitive, you wonder how you used to do it. We can now access video and data remotely and via the Samsara apps without delay." Carsten Jandt, Head of Driving Services & Data Protection Officer, Scharf Busreisen
Be My Bus by Darbier is a France-based family-run business employing around 60 people. Each year, this fleet of around 70 buses transports around 1.5 million passengers while operating to the highest business and environmental standards. Thanks to Samsara, Be My Bus by Darbier has halved its data processing time, improved customer service with real-time location tracking, cut fuel use through ecodriving, and is preparing its fleet for a switch to LNG vehicles.
"The use of the cloud platform and Samsara dash cams allowed us to deploy an ecodriving programme involving all employees in a collective approach. The figures speak for themselves: on average, our drivers have reduced their individual fuel consumption by 2 to 3 litres per 100 km, which represents a saving of up to 45,000 litres per year for the company." Paulo Da Cunha, Head of Research & Methods, Be My Bus by Darbier
Operating close to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands, Doelen Coach Service manages a complex operation serving airport transfers, VIP transport, and tour groups. They installed Samsara’s AI dash cams to improve visibility and safety across their fleet, which has helped to reduce incidents such as harsh braking and unnecessary risks in busy traffic. As a result, their drivers now achieve a safety score between 98% and 100%, with speeding accounting for just 0.6% of total driving time.
“We're really satisfied with the system. It helps us tremendously in gaining visibility over our fleet, helping our drivers, and ensuring everyone gets on the road as safely as possible.” Eef van Wijk, Project Engineer, Doelen Coach Service
OMC Global is a UK-based luxury private-hire bus and coach experience with a mission to deliver a seamless service. Thanks to Samsara’s Connected Operations Cloud, they’re now able to integrate all functionalities into one system and make data readily accessible to all stakeholders. The open API feature streamlines their internal booking system and customer communications through a custom-built app. By integrating live vehicle tracking data from Samsara, OMC Global now provides customers with real-time location monitoring and ETAs of hired vehicles straight from their phones.
“We had no way of precisely monitoring our drivers and vehicles when they were out on the road. The lack of real-time tracking meant we couldn’t provide reliable ETAs or delay updates to our customers. [Now], instead of just being given the driver's name and number, our customers now know where their vehicle is at any given moment. Being able to communicate with precision has played a vital role in demonstrating to customers that we offer a premium service.” Romi Singh, Director, OMC Global
UK-based Bennetts Coaches operates 37 full-size coaches running National Express services to London, school routes for 850 children, and prestigious private hire work. This third-generation family business replaced its disparate systems with Samsara's integrated platform, bringing together vehicle tracking, digital inspections, maintenance management, and breathalyser monitoring into one reliable system. The shift from paper-based vehicle inspections to Samsara's digital system has been transformative.
"Samsara is always on my home screen – that shows how much I value it." Gavin Bennett, Managing Director, Bennetts Coaches
Abbey Travel is a UK family-run passenger travel company with an extensive fleet of vehicles, ranging from 16-seater minibuses up to 74-seater double-deck buses. The roll-out of intelligent cameras also helped Abbey Travel reduce its insurance premium. Using Samsara allowed Abbey Travel to partner with a new broker that rewarded the use of IoT solutions by bringing down the premium by more than £60,000.
“We recently had an incident where a dog ran out into the road, causing the driver to hit the brakes quickly and a passenger fell over. Using Samsara, we were able to see why the incident took place and that the passenger wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, empowering us to protect the driver.” Steve Woodall, Transport Manager, Abbey Travel
