Who belongs at Samsara?
CEO & Founder
We set goals and develop strategies to diversify our workforce by being intentional about addressing unconscious bias and ensuring fairness in our sourcing and hiring practices.
Diversity Recruitment Strategy
Samsara will implement a pipeline generation and hiring strategy that ensures representation of individuals from underrepresented groups be proportional to the diversity of the local/surrounding area.
• We will not move forward with hiring processes until 40% of candidates who reach the manager phone screen for a role are members of underrepresented groups (in the corresponding department).
• To ensure that we confront implicit bias in our recruiting strategy, all candidate rationale decisions will be subject to monthly audits by members of our DEI oversight committee.
• By the end of 2020 all Samsara recruiters will be trained in “Inclusive Recruiting Practices” and “Understanding and Mitigating Unconscious Bias.”
We create training and learning opportunities centered on enabling growth and ensuring all employees feel valued, respected, and supported.
Employee Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Training
Samsara will require all employees to complete Inclusion Training. All people managers will be required to complete additional training sessions focused on Inclusive Leadership Practices and Building Relationships Across Lines of Difference by the end of 2022.
Quarterly External Training & Learning Opportunities
Samsara will partner with groups, organizations, and individuals dedicated to social justice to ensure that we, as a company, are continuing to grow as allies and co-conspirators to our colleagues and friends from underrepresented/targeted backgrounds.
Regional/Local Working Groups
Samsara will develop regional/local DEI working groups in our Atlanta, San Francisco, and EMEA locations. These groups will be led by individuals who are dedicated to building awareness and taking action in their communities with respect to social justice-related issues.
We invest in mechanisms to ensure we are on target and transparent about building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive Samsara.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Steering Committee
This global committee will provide Samsara’s Executive Team with guidance and recommendations on how to implement DEI efforts, policies, and practices across the company.
Quarterly Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Report
This report will allow Samsara’s Executive team, department leaders, and Employee Resource Groups (ERG) to assess the current state of the organization with respect to its commitment to DEI. These reports will include both quantitative and qualitative data and will be used to measure representation (overall, by department, and in leadership), recruitment efforts, and employee sentiment. The report will be made public on Samsara.com.
