Yesterday, we opened the doors to our new London headquarters in Shoreditch. This beautiful, three-story office is a testament to the growth we have achieved across the UK and Europe in the past year -- and our plans to continue scaling our team, customer base, and products in the future.
When Samsara opened the doors to our first international office in London last May, we were a plucky team of 11, crowded around one table to launch our fleet platform in the United Kingdom.
One year later, our new office is home to more than 150 employees and serves more than 10 European markets. Walking the hallways, you can hear Samsarians talking about our products or last night's Samsara Football Club match in Dutch, French, English, German, Spanish and Italian. You might even run into one of our office dogs or a Samsara for Good bake sale. It’s been incredible to see this new team come together - and to see our office become a truly international headquarters for Samsara.
To provide complete support to these new markets, we’ve also expanded our team to include all functions: Product and Engineering is dedicated to building new features specific to Europe, Support and Sales ensure our customers receive the best possible service and Marketing and Business Operations understand the ins and outs of each country we operate in. By having all of these teams in one place, we can deliver tailored solutions for each market and a thoughtful end-to-end experience for our customers.
The Road We've Travelled So Far
Over the past year, the team has criss-crossed Europe, visiting customers, installing products, tagging along with drivers and attending tradeshows. We’ve learned about the day-to-day experience of fleet managers in different countries and the unique challenges and opportunities facing fleets in each region.
We’ve taken the key findings from those conversations to identify what our customers need to run their fleets efficiently and safely. And in the cases where we don’t deliver it, we’ve started to build it. Our London-based engineering team has localised the Samsara dashboard into 6 new languages and delivered new solutions for the European markets, including a complete tachograph solution, with more coming soon.
These efforts are resonating with customers. We’ve partnered with some of the leading fleets across Europe, like Kelly Fleet Services in the UK, ITC Holland in the Netherlands, and Stafex in France. In turn, customers have embraced the product. As Stephen Whitehead of LV Shipping said, “It’s brilliant. Since day one, it’s done exactly what it did in the demo — it live tracks, it takes videos, it does everything you need it to do.”
It’s been an incredible year of tackling new challenges, adding new colleagues and partnering with new customers. And we’re poised to continue on this trajectory.
With space for more than 300 employees, this new office will allow us to double our team. In the coming months, we’ll continue to grow, introduce new features, expand into new regions and hire across all teams, including Sales, Support, Engineering, Product and more to ensure we’re delivering the best platform possible to our European customers.
