Operating sustainably
Reducing carbon emissions starts with transparency. By tracking and sharing our impact, Samsara aims to reach net zero across Scope 1,2, and 3 emissions by 2040, aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)

Investing in climate innovation
Since we began measuring our carbon footprint in 2019, we've improved our calculation methodologies to capture as much detail as possible for our global operations. Instead of only relying on offsets to achieve neutrality, we're reducing emissions directly—investing in climate innovation, renewable energy, and clean power programs to power our offices worldwide.
Building a sustainable hardware supply chain
We work with top suppliers to build a resilient, sustainable supply chain. Our leading partners have SBTi commitments, disclose to CDP, and our top 10 are ISO 14001 certified.
Over the last year, we’ve made improvements to help us build products more sustainably, including:
Using recycled materials in our products
We successfully tested and qualified 50% post-consumer resin (PCR) for some of our parts in our Vehicle Gateway to reduce our reliance on plastic. We plan on expanding our access and use of recycled materials in future hardware programs.
Decreasing use of single-use plastics
We are leveraging packaging insights to explore solutions that increase packaging recyclability, and minimize the environmental impact of packaging throughout its lifecycle.
Manufacturing with renewable energy
We made commitments to partner with manufacturing facilities that are powered by partial renewable energy. We plan to continue to find ways to expand renewable energy use across manufacturing facilities we work with.
Move to zero waste in manufacturing
We engaged a new manufacturing facility partner that received a zero-waste certification. We will continue to qualify other factories and products to be manufactured at zero-waste facilities.
Carbon accounting
We are beginning to refine our carbon accounting practices and are developing full life cycle assessments of our hardware products and packaging. This will allow us to further understand which part of the supply chain is generating the most carbon.
Powered by renewable energy
Through our subscriptions to clean power programs offered by utilities and purchasing Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) globally, we were able to source enough renewable energy to power our corporate offices and employee offices worldwide.

We require our employees to act appropriately and responsibly in the workplace, and aim to hold our manufacturing partners to those same standards through our Business Partner Code of Conduct.
We also continuously evaluate our privacy and security practices to ensure best standards are met or exceeded to protect our company information and customer data.
