The Challenge
Managing a home-dispatched fleet with no cameras and shrinking oversight
Sears Home Services, part of the Transformco family of businesses, is one of the nation's largest provider of residential appliance and HVAC repair. Its 1,700+ technicians operate company vans directly to service customers, covering 29 districts nationwide. Before Samsara, Sears Home Services relied on a GPS-only tracking system with no camera capability. This limited Sears Home Services' ability to understand the causes of accidents, proactively address risky driving behaviors, and support consistent coaching across a geographically dispersed workforce. With a small safety team supporting a large nationwide fleet, Sears Home Services needed scalable tools that could provide real-time insights, streamline coaching efforts, and help reduce accident-related costs. Rising insurance and claim expenses highlighted the need for a more data-driven approach to fleet safety.
"Samsara is a major part of my day, every single day. The platform gives our safety team real-time visibility and helps us coach our technicians effectively, which has led to a significant drop in risky driving behavior and total claim costs."

The Solution
A connected operations platform built around a non-traditional workforce
Sears Home Services deployed Samsara's full connected operations platform across its fleet: Vehicle Gateways, Dual-Facing AI Dash Cams, and the Samsara Driver App. The goal was to give the safety team real-time visibility and empower technicians to monitor and self-correct their own driving behavior.
A unified reporting dashboard, built on top of Samsara data, gave the safety team visibility across all 29 districts in a single view. A custom vehicle health workflow connected Samsara's device health reporting to an internal customer service platform, enabling a dedicated support team to proactively reach out when a device went offline. "Every time we've had a specialized challenge where we needed to integrate certain pieces of our own reporting, we've always had the incredible support from Samsara to help us figure it out," said Deal-Chatley.

Fleet Telematics
Recovering an estimated $500,000 in fleet assets and resolving device health issues proactively
GPS data from Samsara Vehicle Gateways has enabled Sears Home Services to quickly locate and recover more than 50 company vehicles following personnel transitions, protecting valuable fleet assets and minimizing replacement costs. The same fleet data powers a proactive device health workflow that catches equipment issues before they create coverage gaps.
