Walthall Oil Company is a fuel and lubricant distributor with headquarters in Macon, Georgia, operating across the Southeast from 10 regional locations. Their fleet delivers to industrial sites, shutdown facilities, and remote locations where road conditions and traffic patterns are constantly shifting.

As their operations grew, so did the complexity of managing safety across a large and dispersed driver workforce. Without real-time visibility into driver behavior, it was difficult to coach drivers consistently, respond to incidents quickly, and protect the company from liability exposure. When trucks entered tight plant sites, narrow alleyways, or some of the newly constructed roundabouts across Georgia, vehicle blind spots created risk—and Walthall had no way to verify what happened when incidents did occur.

Walthall also wanted to get ahead of the parallel risk posed by asset theft and misplacement. With high-value equipment like frac tanks worth $60,000 or more stationed in remote locations, Walthall needed a way to reliably track assets in real time. Without that visibility, a missing or malfunctioning asset could cascade into lost deliveries, tied-up drivers, and significant revenue disruption.

Asset Tags and Asset Gateways have brought pin-drop accuracy to equipment tracking across remote sites, cutting hours off searching and maintenance dispatching. Walthall also built a Professional Driver Incentive Program around Samsara's safety data and video footage, tying bonuses directly to on-road performance and cutting speeding rates by 73%—even while onboarding 50 new drivers.
