The Challenge
Limited visibility and paper-based processes hindered safety and efficiency
Hogland Transfer Company is a veteran-owned, Washington state trucking and third-party logistics provider serving manufacturers and aerospace companies for nearly a century. Specializing in just-in-time (JIT) delivery, warehousing, and time-sensitive transportation, Hogland supports high-value freight for industry leaders such as Boeing and Genie. With deep regional expertise and a focus on reliability, safety, and operational precision, the company helps customers reduce risk, maintain production schedules, and keep their supply chains running smoothly.
Prior to adopting Samsara, Hogland's used manual processes that limited visibility and efficiency. Dispatching was handled on paper, which required significant administrative effort and increased the likelihood of errors. Without a fleet management platform in place, the company also had limited real-time insight into vehicle activity or safety trends, making it harder to address issues proactively and respond to incidents quickly. Additionally, without consistent vehicle data or structured coaching tools, driver feedback was informal and reactive. As Hogland's looked to support long-term growth and further strengthen driver safety, leadership recognized an opportunity to modernize operations with a more connected, data-driven approach.
Real-time driver feedback through Samsara helps us proactively reduce risk, protect the freight our customers depend on, and ultimately save lives. That visibility and accountability are part of why companies continue to choose Hogland's.

The Solution
Digitizing operations with real-time fleet technology
The decision to utilize Samsara was rooted in a broader modernization effort—zeroing in on how real-time data, AI insights, and integrations could streamline operations and reduce risk. Hogland's entire fleet is equipped with Vehicle Gateways and forward-facing AI Dash Cams. The rollout focused on putting the data to work in practical, visible ways while building trust across their highly-tenured, unionized workforce. AI-powered safety detections flag risky behaviors in the moment while giving drivers visibility into their own safety scores to encourage self-correction. To drive adoption, they led with positive reinforcement by celebrating top drivers on terminal displays, in company newsletters, and through MVP awards. They also regularly share dash cam clips of exemplary defensive driving moments to reinforce best practices.
"Adopting Samsara wasn’t just a technology upgrade, it was a mindset shift. We’ve moved from reactive to proactive, from paper based to data driven. That visibility has made us safer, more efficient, and better positioned for long-term growth," said Igor Persky, Owner & President.
The Results
Turning safety data into a 42% increase in new business and measurable time savings
By fully putting Samsara data to work, Hogland's saw measurable gains across safety, cost control, and growth. After enabling AI-powered in-cab alerts and giving drivers visibility into their own safety scores, the company increased their overall safety score to from 96 to 99 while recording zero injuries, tows, and fatalities in 2025. AI-prioritized safety events automatically surface the highest-risk incidents with video and key details, reducing the time managers spent investigating cases by 52%—saving up to four hours per incident and freeing up eight hours per week. Dash cam footage proved equally valuable in risk mitigation, instantly exonerating a driver from a false claim and helping the company avoid an estimated $80,000 in related costs. "A motorist accused our driver of running them off the road and damaging their vehicle," said Laura Mathisen, Head of Growth. "The video footage instantly proved the claim was false, saving us from potential legal fees, payouts, and insurance hikes."
Hogland's decision to share safety data with their insurer amplified these results. By demonstrating low risk, they secured premiums 10% lower than market average. Additionally, including safety metrics in sales presentations helped drive a 42% increase in new business, directly linking transparency to revenue growth. "Having Samsara data to showcase our safety record is a big selling point for us. Customers want reliability and to make sure that we're driving safely with their product," said Mathisen.
Internally, their recognition-first approach boosted morale and contributed to a 95% driver retention rate, far higher than industry average. Finally, integrating Samsara with their TMS provider, Revenova, eliminated paper dispatching and reduced errors, reinforcing the operational efficiency needed to support sustained growth.
